Apparently I started this back in June, but never quite finished it. This is mostly Garth, the silliest, sweetest, smooshiest puppy in all the land! We met Catahoula Leopard Dog mix puppies Garth, then "Tank", and his brother "Oliver" back in May at an event for H.F. Help Rescue, when they were about 6 months old. At that point we hadn't even been in Charleston for a month, but having a yard again, and with Jake being older, and never really "dogging" we knew we wanted to adopt another bigger dog, and have a playmate for George. I was instantly drawn to Oliver when I saw him walking through the crowd. He was the same fawn, or as I now call it thanks to my friend's daughter, golden color as George, plus the catahoula spots, with gorgeous golden eyes, and an even curlier tail! When we went to meet them, they hadn't been living together, but were in a kennel together, and "Oliver" seemed to be snippy, and dominate, as "Tank" simply rolled over and said "Gosh, fine, I'll just play with my toy" lol Even though I was so drawn to "Oliver", "Tank" had the coolest eyes, they transition from navy blue to green to almost white, and then gold! You can kind of see in the yellow background portrait below. I also though he looked like Rocky Road or Moose tracks ice cream, both Rocky and Moose were contenders as names, until we decided to stick with one syllable G names. Anyway, after talking about it a bit, we decided to foster with intent to adopt "Tank". He needed to get along with George of course, and the cats. We also really wanted a water dog. Well, he fit perfectly! He loves George, and everyone else, and after a few attempts now absolutely loves the water! The lake, the ocean, the hose, the shower lol He's a really sweet boy, and our bowling ball, baby hippo, and my Smooshy! The story doesn't start or end there though. The following story might be disturbing to some, so caution!!! These boys were found in a house where they'd been abandoned for weeks, with 5 other litter mates. By the time they were rescued, they were eating one of the siblings, which is so incredibly heartbreaking. At 4ish months old, who knows how they'd been treated if they were with people who'd do such a thing. Whatever they endured, it was enough to cause a lot of fear and anxiety, but Garth did trust us, and settled in pretty quickly. Fast forward. Now we have "Oliver" too, but you'll have to come back to find out the rest of the story! These photos are now at this point, a compilation of photos of Garth from over the summer! Enjoy the smoosh! And of course a few of George at the end ;)
