My paternal Grandma was Irish, and that's usually where my mind goes on this day, a celebratory beer, something I don't typically drink, but she still did at 91—that, and pulling out some pretty, Irish inspired clover jewelry from my Dad, she also loved all things Irish! This year, in addition, I thought I'd turn to the dogs! There are some great breeds from Ireland—in fact, 9 of them! There is the Irish Wolfhound, Kerry Beagle, Irish Water Spaniel, Irish Red Setter and Irish Red & White Setter, Irish Terrier, Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier, Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, and the Kerry Blue Terrier. I went digging to find some photos of an Irish Wolfhound at James Island Dog Park a couple of years ago, but other than that, I can't say any of these breeds have graced my lens! My mom always wanted an Irish Setter, but I'm not sure why she's never had one... If your heart belongs to any of these breeds, please share! We're considering doing a breed of the month, you can sign up for the VIP list, attach a picture of your dog, and be first to know!
